Janine Fondon is a writer, educator, and speaker who brings her New York spirit,
Caribbean lineage, and Massachusetts mindset (with Southern exposure) to the
boardroom, living room, and classroom. She has used her communication skills to
build bridges of inclusion in corporations and communities. She has worked for
several corporations (ABC‐TV, CBS‐TV, BankBoston). Also, she co‐founded her own
company, UnityFirst.com, to share inclusive news with some 300,000+ people
worldwide.
Fondon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from Colgate
University, a Master of Arts in Communications and Business from New York
University, and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Bay Path University.
She has studied abroad at the University of West Indies (Barbados) and completed
study tours in London and Paris. She has received top scholarly prizes from Bay
Path University, including the Thumbprint Award and the Richard J. Briotta Prize
for outstanding faculty research, scholarly activity, and creative Works.
An influencer and innovator in the field of education
Over her tenure at Bay Path University, she has founded the University's first-ever
Digital Newsroom. Also, she has created the first-ever virtual magazine -- Network
News -- that connects virtual and traditional students all over the U.S. Professor
Fondon brings more than 15+ years of experience in communications, business, and
education to her position as Assistant Professor at Bay Path University. She is one
of the longest-serving African American educators at the University.
Fondon's experience in education includes teaching appointments at Bay Path
University (Traditional and Graduate), Westfield State University (Communications
Department and Urban Education Program), Cambridge College (Graduate MBA
and Undergraduate divisions), and Charter Oak College (Online Division).
Throughout her career, she has taught many classes: mass communication,
principles of public relations, integrated marketing, entrepreneurship, marketing
principles, consulting skills, intercultural communication, diversity in the
workplace, women in the workplace, human communications, social media, and
journalism/digital media. She leads media communication-focused educational
tours to New York City, Boston, and Washington. D.C. She is considered a media
ecologist who creates classroom environments that maximize communication
technologies and inspire interactive dialogue based on human perception,
understanding, feeling, and value.

In 2019, Janine Fondon was included in a
book of women leaders called "The Power of
Women," published by journalist Wayne
Phaneuf and historian Joe Carvalho.
In Janine received the 2020 Pynchon
medalist by The Advertising Club of
Western Massachusetts. The Order of
William Pynchon award, founded in 1915,
has recognized citizens in the Western
Massachusetts region who have rendered
distinguished civic service.
In 2018, Janine was named one of the
top African American female professors
by the AAFPA (African American Female
Professors Association).
Janine Fondon launched the On the
Move Forum to Advance Women Forum
to engage women and women of color
across industries, disciplines, and levels.
A powerful marketing and ‘front page’ public relations specialist
Janine Fondon also brings special talents in public relations and
marketing. She has worked for companies and as a consulting executive.
Her skill is building bridges of interest in a range of markets.
Fondon is a hybrid creator offering skills across the creative disciplines.
She focuses on relationship-building strategies, designing custom
outreach plans, creating social media materials, and writing key public
relations elements to build the media mix and audience engagement.
Over the years, she has worked with key clients, from a national veterans
organization to a New York Times photographer. She has worked with a
national film festival on a multi-year account to events related to national
content management clients.
